From 2003–2005, I worked at Ableton. In the office were Jesse Terry, Dennis Desantis (of Making Music: Creative Strategies for Electronic Music Producers fame), and Sam Walker (of Walker & Royce fame).
Years after I left, Jesse reached out with a hardware project. Secrecy was a major concern, but thankfully, my history accelerated me through the NDA process.
The project was relatively simple: LED buttons on long cable leads that could be repositioned easily. This let Jesse experiment with exactly where the buttons should sit. I called the rig "the octopus."
